Hello everyone! I got my start in Education doing a teaching internship at Dixon Middle School (2016) I taught history and absolutely loved my time teaching. I came back to Dixon to teach in January of 2018 teaching more history, and got my programming certifications the next school year. I am so happy that I made the switch to teaching Computer Science because I love being able to teach a skill based curriculum that can easily lead to a career in the future.

I am passionate about teaching and I am constantly updating my curriculum to better teach the basic principles of programming and computer science, as well as keeping up to date with industry standards and being aware of what skills companies are looking for in their employees. My goal as an educator is to teach the joy of lifelong learning and inspire my students to be curious enough to grow beyond what I am able to teach them.

It is hard to adequately describe my excitement to be working at UCAS in an environment where we encourage high standards and show students that they have the capability to achieve those standards, and even more if they set their mind to it! That being said, my classroom is designed around the idea that students learn best when they have control over their learning, so my classes don’t run like traditional classrooms. Students move through the curriculum at their own pace (with me making sure they don’t fall behind) and I try to give a lot of room for student choice and exploration of topics.
