Miss Thornock was born and raised in Provo and now lives in the home her grandparents built in 1956. She has enjoyed remodeling and decorating the home since she purchased it and changes the seasonal decorations nine times a year! When she is not decorating, Miss Thornock enjoys paper crafting, reading, live theater (especially musicals), travel, and spending time with family. She has been on more than ten cruises and visited more than 40 countries. She reads voraciously and most enjoys memoirs, historic fiction, and books that help her learn about other cultures and experiences. She hates yard work, but loves the flowers. She admits to watching far too much television and especially enjoys police shows and Hallmark movies.

Miss Thornock has been teaching since 1986 when she graduated from BYU and was hired by Provo School District. While most of her career was spent in Provo District, she has had a few unique experiences. She spent three years at BYU training new teachers in Social Studies and supervising their student teachers and interns throughout Utah Valley. After that she spent one year teaching English at Nanjing Tech University in China, which put her in a good location to travel and add to her country count. Miss Thornock joined the faculty at UCAS upon her return from China in 2019 and absolutely loves teaching English and Student Council here. Throughout her career, Miss Thornock has received many recognitions, most notably as Provo School District Teacher of the Year, Provo Foundation Educator of the Year, State of Utah Teacher of the Year First Runner Up, and most recently the Utah Council of Teachers of English Teacher of the Year in 2023.
