I was born and raised in a small town in Kansas (most towns are very small in Kansas).  I loved playing multiple sports in high school; basketball, football, track, tennis, and baseball. I enjoy playing and watching sports. I play basketball a few times a week with my boys. The Utah Jazz, St. Louis Cardinals, BYU Cougars, RSL, Tottenham Hotspurs and Kansas Jayhawks are teams that I follow and cheer for. However, you could probably catch me watching sports during my free time. I taught at Salt Lake Community College as an adjunct for over 20 years, BYU-I as an online instructor for over 8 years, and Bingham High School (South Jordan) for over 7 years. I worked as an invoice associate for Walmart for over 20 years and recently was an Accredited Education Coordinator for Intermountain Health.  I love to teach and enjoy mentoring and helping to shape minds. I feel it is so important to help students realize their potential and to become upstanding citizens. I have been married for 34 years and have three grown boys.  I enjoy hiking, cooking and baking, and when I get the chance, reading.

How to be Successful in My Class

  • For US Government/POLS 1100, students should check their UCAS Canvas at least 3 times weekly. All assignments are in Canvas. You can check due dates there as well
  • For Study Hour and Advisory, students should be engaged in homework and other academic pursuits. This is not a period to do nothing and to be on your phone.
  • Phones are to be in the cellphone hotel / garage during class time.
