In the summer of 2022, our family uprooted from Central Texas and moved to Utah County. I am originally from Idaho, but I was raised in Texas from the age of 11 years old. I attended Ricks College before it was BYU-I and then graduated from BYU with a Bachelor of Arts in Theatre Education and a minor in Sociology. I returned home to Texas and started working as a Drama and Debate Teacher in both High School and Middle Schools.

After three years, I decided to go get my Masters of Counseling. However, life made a detour to Venezuela first, where I spent two more years teaching Theatre, English, Dance, and Yearbook at CIPLC, an expat school in Puerto La Cruz. I met my husband there and in 2002 brought two very important souvenirs back to Texas with me. My daughter was born that summer and is the first of 4 children, 2 girls and 2 boys. Back in Texas, I taught ESL and Teen Leadership for a few more years at the local DAEP while obtaining my School Counseling Degree from Sam Houston State University.

After some career exploration, my husband decided to join me in the world of education. He starts kids reading in Elementary and I help them graduate in High School. We make a good team.  Between the starts and stops of my career, I've taught 7 years in secondary ed, subbed for all grade levels in between, and served as a High School Counselor for 14 years. I am learning the ropes of Utah and UCAS. I'm excited by the opportunities UCAS has to offer students who are willing to work hard.

In my spare time I love to patronize the arts from live theatre, music and dance concerts (especially those of my kids) to movies and a good TV series. I also love to read. I'm excited to be in Utah and to start exploring the great outdoors and reconnecting with many family and friends nearby.
